Being new to the city, made me feel absurd. Each night seemed somber and starless. Each day introduced me to bizarre situations. It was about four months, and I was worn out by this feeling. Just then, the other evening, my fate introduced me to this bunch of lovely people. They are called neighbor’s.
Jamie and I have been married for a year, now. We lived our initial eight months’ post marriage at our home town. We then decided to move to this new city. The apartment is called “Rose Villa.” Being health conscious, Jamie and I use to go out every evening for a run. That’s where we came across this group of eight people who belonged to the same apartment. Two of them were couples and the other four lived independently.
We now began to meet quite often. Among these eight, Jamie and I began to get too close to Mr. and Mrs. Robinson. They lived nearby leaving one house. It now became a daily ritual to meet and greet each other. Meanwhile, when Jamie and Mr. Robinson headed to office during the day, Mrs. Robinson and myself began to hang out at each other’s home and exchanged numbers. We gradually became good pals and began discussing our ups and downs with each other on the cell phone quite often.
One evening, I got a call from Jamie and he told me that he had been promoted to a higher rank and that he had received a raise. I was overjoyed and discussed the same with Mrs. Robinson on chat. She too was delighted by this. It called for a dinner party at my place. Everything seemed to go great from then on. We all began to live our normal routine once again.
Until one day when I received a call from Mrs. Robinson at about 23:00 hours. On the other end of the receiver was Mrs. Robinson who was weeping bitterly and the only thing she could say was please come home. I hurriedly woke Jamie and we both went to their home. That’s when Mrs. Robinson looked all panicked and told us that she had received a call from Mr. Robinson’s office saying that he had left office in a bad mood about 4 hours back. She was worried that he may have done something wrong to himself and was panting as different thoughts were coming to her head. She asked us to accompany her for a while till he got back home. Meanwhile, she offered Jamie and me some wine.
The next thing I remember, was waking up at Mrs. Robinson’s home in a very dizzy manner. There was no one around other than Jamie who was fast asleep. I hurriedly woke him up and began to look out for Mrs. Robinson. When we couldn’t find her, we decided to look for her outside. We went out & noticed that our home door was left open. As we went towards our home, we realized we had been robbed. There was no sign of Mr. and Mrs. Robinson anywhere. This made it clear that we had been trapped.
That’s where Jamie and I learned a lesson. STOP ADDING STRANGERS on your contact list and STOP sharing everything about your life publicly. Install LYK.
