I still remember the entire day I spent on LYK last month like it was yesterday. I had recently started using this app, thanks to my sister and her family, and it was that full day that truly let me see just how useful all features in this app are.
The first thing I did when I got up was use the calendar feature to see what I had scheduled for the day that needed to be done. I saw that, besides a few different errands I needed to run, I had a doctor’s appointment later that morning and had plans to meet my sister for lunch afterward. I was also going jogging in the park later with a friend.
As I ate breakfast I used the news feed feature to see all the news that I might be interested in and to see what my sister and her family had shared, as well as other family members who were using LYK. Besides interesting world news, I saw that my niece had made honor roll, my nephew had made varsity, and my brother had just gotten a promotion at work. I also saw a notification from a neighbor about some suspicious characters having been spotted a couple of streets over as well as a couple of car break-ins and some reported vandalism, so I marked that area on the map feature as an unsafe area so my own kids would avoid it and my husband would be careful.
Before I headed out to run a couple of errands before my doctor appointment, I got a notification from my brother wanting to meet for dinner next week to celebrate his promotion, so I responded and added it to my calendar.
While I waited at the doctor’s office, I spent a little time on the social forum feature, seeing what my family had been posting so I’d be up to date on everything that was going on with them. My sister was still gloating about her daughter making honor roll and her son making varsity and was thinking about doing something to celebrate, so I gave her a couple of ideas. My uncle shared photos of his recent fishing trip. My mom and dad shared photos of their road trip. My niece and nephew posted the typical teenage stuff, complete with selfies.
After my appointment, I met my sister for lunch, and we discussed plans for celebrating her daughter and son’s accomplishments. Once we had the plans figured out, we put it down on the calendar and invited all the family members on the app.
After lunch, I met my friend for some jogging in the park, then went home to rest for a bit before my children came home and I had to start dinner. I checked the app’s news feed again to get caught up on news and saw that both my aunt and my cousin, both of whom I hadn’t heard from in years, had started using the app, so I added there information to my contacts and sent them each a message. I also saw a news bulletin from my children’s school that they would begin doing fund raisers in the next couple of weeks and also that a security drill was scheduled for the next month.
I had never realized just how useful the LYKApp was until I used it for the whole day. It’s a great way to stay connected with family so you know what’s going on with everyone, share your own news with them, and can also easily organize family events. I thank my sister so much for introducing me to this app and helping me be better connected with my family.
